What is counted

For each public page view, the site increments a daily aggregate counter. The counter may be grouped by page path, general traffic source, referrer host, broad device category, and whether the request appears to come from an obvious bot or crawler.

What is not stored

  • No IP addresses
  • No complete user-agent strings
  • No full referring URLs or query strings
  • No user IDs, fingerprints, or visitor profiles
  • No mouse, scroll, or interaction recordings

The user agent is inspected only long enough to derive a broad device type and an obvious-bot marker, then discarded. External referrers are reduced to the hostname before storage.

Cookies and third parties

Public visitors do not receive an analytics cookie. The site does not load Google Analytics, Matomo, social tracking pixels, or other third-party analytics services.

A strictly necessary session cookie is used only when an administrator signs in to the protected analytics dashboard. It is not part of public visitor tracking.

Purpose and retention

The aggregate counts exist to understand which pages are useful, where visits generally come from, and whether obvious crawler traffic is distorting the totals. A formal retention period and operator contact details should be added before production launch as part of the final legal review.
